The assigned degree is a holder of master's degree in technology. Profiles are the fundamental biotechnology, food biotechnology, biotechnology of drugs. Spheres of activity of the graduate are food, pharmaceutical, microbiological industry, and research laboratories. Form of study is full-time study (full term of training - 2 years).
Training is conducted at the department of biotechnology, bioengineering and biochemistry.
At 2006 in the department of biotechnology, bioengineering and biochemistry was opened Biotechnology Center which includes two scientific-educational centers - "Nanobiotechnology" and "DNA diagnostics." There are several biotechnology laboratories at the structure of the Biotechnology Center. It is biophysics, microbial biotechnology, spectral analysis, physical and chemical methods of analysis, cell and genetic engineering, chromatographic analysis, sedimentation laboratories. All laboratories are equipped with the most modern equipment that allows to do study at the level of the molecular genetics, cellular and whole organism. Modern methods of the research such as cultivation of objects in computer-controlled bioreactors, microscopy with digital imaging system and computer system analysis, methods of analytical control using modern chromatographic and electrophoretic equipment with computer data processing, various modifications of PCR, DNA sequencing and etc are constantly introduced at the training courses. All this allows carrying study by students of the biological objects and figuring out of the ways of the further application of biological objects and their components in the various sectors of the industry. During training the most talented and infatuated with science students will have the opportunity to become a part of research groups (with an official employment as laboratory assistant and junior researcher after graduation).
Having extensive knowledge, skills and acquired habits, graduating students of the Department of Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering can successfully work as microbiologists, technologists and engineers in the food processing plants and microbiological industry. During existence of the department more than 1000 specialists has been trained.
